How can the latest advances in digital technologies, including use of mobile phones, big data analytics and other information technology solutions be deployed in Smart Cities. The entries may be in descriptive answer types and may use pictures or videos to explain the answers better.
All questions in this category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
Questions
1. List three municipal services that can be improved with the use of a mobile phone.
2. Describe 3 aspects of your daily life that have improved with the use of the mobile phone.
3. Suggest 5 ways in which the use of big data can make Indian cities into smart cities.
4. Mention 3 new ways that information technology can improve Governance.
5. How can access to information and data make our public spaces safe and secure?
Entry Deadline
• Entries may be submitted online on the mygov.in portal latest by 23.59 hours (11.59 pm) on Saturday, 20th June 2015.
Evaluation
The submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:
• Do-ability (50%)
• Innovation (50%)
Award
Two winners in each category will be awarded a citation from the Prime Minister at the Smart City Mission Launch on June 25th, 2015 at VigyanBhavan, New Delhi, along witha cash prize of the following amounts:
• Rs. 40,000 - First Prize
• Rs. 25,000 - Second Prize
The winning ideas would be shared with the 100 SmartCities as potentiallyimplementablesolutions and will be considered for pilot
• All questions in a particular category must be answered to be considered as a complete submission and to be eligible for short-listing.
• The participants(s) entries will be judged for each category independently and on merit. In case of short listing in more than one category, a participant will receive prize money for one category only.
• The length of each answer is limited to 250 words or less.

Answer5- A- By Avoiding storing sensitive information in the cloud.

3- Providing feedback in real time- A program named ‘OnTrack’ can be an engagement mechanism that allows citizens to provide feedback to government and government to citizens. ‘OnTrack’ can be used by SMS, web or by App.
Answer4-1- More data doesn’t equal more accountability- Data does not equal participation. Mobile phones and other ICTs or social media can improve governance and can reduce corruption.
2- ‘Digital Cabinet’ initiative can be used in which citizens can submit proposals via mobile, web and Apps. And can talk with Various ministries officials to get the better results for their problems.
5- E banking, solar power drones etc will help in proper management of data leading to proper governance. Big data will help to know about the increase or decrease on population thus will help to know about the growth trends of population.
3- Cloud computing and cyber space development will make the cities digitalized and ensure municipal corporations for proper functioning of the city. Investigation regarding the police reports and citizen redressels can be ensured.
4- It will ensure management in infrastructure and industry resulting in high productivity, capability, and evidence based decision making. The transportation will be made efficient due to better traffic control, e- cards, etc.
Answer3- 1- The Mobile Network big data will help to know/ identify about water management schemes and solid waste management being run in the cities. It will help to analyze the data and will ensure proper long term decision making.
2- Disaster management will become effective due to the availability of data in tabular and digitalized form. People can be aware about the disaster control measures. Big data will help to know about the accurate weather forecast by using video data.
2-Banking and Financial Services- cell phones allow for digital transactions that are both cheaper and safer than paying with cash, or saving cash under the proverbial mattress.
3-Technology which is helping in many sectors in daily life like-Health, Education, Disaster management, Entertainment etc.
Answer2-1-Connect the world- It makes people become much closer with each other through texting, social networking apps, video or voice phone calling and any other social activities. People can choose the most comfortable and suitable way for themselves to contact friends and families.
Answwr1-Birth, death and cremation certificate issue and verification Can be used to verify whether the certificate is original or not
Health & Sanitation, Septic Tank Cleaning -Application can be made. Status of submitted applications can be tracked. Heath status can be monitored from instantly aggregated field reports.
Waste Removal -Application and complaints about the solid waste management can be made. Status of submitted applications can be tracked.
e. It can accomplish the goal of a Policy Driven State because when data is easily available, there is minimum grey area and those with calibre and skills can thrive
